Anika Rose is an American performer and actress. The most famous role she has played is Tiana the first Disney African American Princess. The film was awarded her the title of an official Disney Legend in 2011. Rose played Lorrell Robinson on the Academy Award-winning movie Dreamgirls. Anika Noni Rose (born September 6 1972) is an American performer and actress. Her most well-known role is playing Tiana Disney's first African-American princess in The Princess and the Frog (2009). Disney Legend was bestowed upon her in the year 2011. She also has a starring role, as Lorrell Robinson as Lorrell Robinson, in Dreamgirls (2007) that received nominations for the Academy Award. And she plays LaVerne jukebox Ganner on the show Starz's Power. Alongside her acting skills, she's known for the roles she performed in theater. These include Emmie Thibodeaux, who played the Broadway adaptation of Caroline or Change (2005) where the Tony Award Best Features Actress in a Musical award was given as well as Beneatha on the Broadway revival A Raisin in the Sun (2017) where the Tony Award Best Features Actress in Play nominations were presented.
